Ice Hockey Improves To 3-1

The Hornets finished their weekend road trip at Hobart defeating the Statesmen 9-4 to improve to 3-1 one week into the season.  The Hornets took a 4-0 lead in the 1st period on a Cory Della Stua (Pittsford, NY/Rush-Henrietta) hat trick. Della Stua scored the first three Hornet goals and assisted on the fourth scored by Michael Feranti (Port Crane, NY/Chenango Valley).

The Hobart College Club team struck first in the second period making it 4-1 before Matthew Evans (Binghamton, NY/Windsor) scored the fifth Hornet goal assisted by Josh Maus (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Forks).  Ferranti scored his second goal of the game halfway thru the period on an assist by Alex Whitehair (Hilton, NY/Hilton).

Della Stua struck again to open the third period scoring his fourth of the game on an assist from Tyler Zweig (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Forks) and Andrew Meeker (Rochester, NY/Hilton). Moments later Hobart scored their second goal of the game only to be answered by a Zach Neferis (Johnson City, NY/Johnson City) goal assisted by Feranti and Della Stua.  Hobart would score two more goals and Neferis would add his second of the game to finish out the scoring.

Dustin Plumadore (Plattsburgh, NY/Beekmantown) started in goal for the Hornets stopping 28 of 30shots, and Conner Fabian (Vestal, NY/Vestal) played the last 11 minutes of the game in goal and stopped 4 of 6 shots.

The Hornets return home this Saturday for 3:00 p.m. game against the Elmira College JV team.
