Hockey Wins Big At Home

The men's hockey team defeated Region III rival Mohawk Valley 11-2 on Wednesday night at home.  Kyle Fragola (Bellmore, NY/Mepham) stopped 28 0f 30 shots to earn his 5th win of the season.  Michael Feranti (Port Crane, NY/Chenango Valley) opened the scoring for the Hornets on a power play midway through the first period on an assist from Zachary Carapellatti (Portville, NY/Portville) and Wayne Buerkle (Cortland, NY/McGraw).  Alex Whitehair (Hilton, NY/Hilton) scored the second goal less than a minute later off of a pass from Cory Della Stua (Pittsford, NY/Rush-Henrietta) and Austin Bradish (Beekmantown, NY/Beekmantown).  Cameron Dunn (Binghamton, NY/Binghamton) scored the third goal of the first period and the eventual game winner with 16 seconds left in the period with assists going to Josh Maus (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Forks) and Matthew Evans (Binghamton, NY/Windsor).. 

The Hornets picked up right where they left off in the second period scoring four times.  Bradish scored on pass from Randy Bushnell (Dryden, NY/Dryden) and Della Stua.  The next two Hornet goals came on power plays, Evans scored with assists going to Maus and Buerkel, and Ryan Cory (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Forks) scored his first of the year with assists going to Ferranti and Ruslan Moskvitin (Toronto, CA/Northview Heights).  Nicholas Frati (Churchville, NY/Churchville-Chili) scored the seventh goal with 6 seconds left in the period with assists going to Ferranti and  Carapellatti. 

The Hornets would strike again with four more third period goals, Bushnell scored off an assist from Della Stua and Bradish.  Della Stua would then score the next two goals, the first of those coming on a power play with assists coming from Andrew Meeker (Rochester, NY/Hilton) and  Fragola.  Bradish and Maus would assist on Della Stua's second goal.  Moskvitin would score the Hornets final goal, his first of the season, with assists going to Ferranti and Adam Sokol (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott).   Owen Miller (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott) played the final six minutes of the game in net for the Hornets stopping the only shot he faced.  

The Hornets are at home this Saturday at 3:00 p.m. against the Kats from Erie CC.
