Baseball Splits At Home

The baseball team dropped game one to Corning CC 15-0 in five innings and earned their first win of the season 3-1 in game two. Game one saw the Hornets struggling both hitting and in the field. The Hornets mustered only three hits in the game, singles from Henry Pellicciotti (Johnson City, NY/Johnson City), Cody Burnett (Binghamton, NY/Binghamton) and Troy Scales (Johnson City, NY/Johnson City).

Game two brought much more success for the Hornets, who jumped out to a early 2-0 lead on RBI hits from Joe Klenchik (Binghamton, NY/Binghamton) and Rachid Martie (Willemstad, Curacao/St. Jozef VSBO). The Hornets added another run in the fifth inning on an RBI double by Pellicciotti. Chris Ellerson (Whitney Point, NY/Whitney Point) found his groove on the mound, throwing a complete game allowing only one unearned run while striking out five and walking one. Pellicciotti and Burnett both had a multi-hit game for the Hornets.

Broome's record is now 1-9 overall and 1-9 in Region III. The Hornets next game is Sunday, April 19th at noon against Corning CC in Corning, NY.
