Baseball Swept At Home

The baseball team was swept at Hornet Field on Thursday afternoon by Jefferson CC 2-1 in game one and 12-2 in game two.

In game one the Hornets took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 3rd before the Cannoneers would tie it up in the top of the 5th. Jefferson's John Andrews drove in the winning run on an RBI double in the top of the 7th for the final 2-1 score. Christopher Puzakulics (Vestal, NY/Vestal) pitched a complete game for the hosts and did not allow an earned run on three hits.

In the second game of the twinbill Broome scattered five hits in the six-inning 12-2 game. The visitors took a 6-0 lead after the 3rd inning before the Hornets would answer back with a run in the 4th on an RBI single by Neil McCormack (Binghamton, NY/Seton Catholic). An RBI single by Kyle Legenhausen (Endwell, NY/Union-Endicott) pushed Puzakulics across the plate but the threat ended there. Jefferson scored six more runs in the sixth and final frame of the double-header. The Cannoneers were sparked by Joel Reynoso, Edward Corniel, Yonnelle Firebrace and Jason Pastuizaca, all with two hits apiece.

The Hornets will travel to Corning CC next Tuesday for double-header against the Red Barons with the first pitch scheduled to be thrown at 2:00 p.m.
