Baseball Goes 1-1 On The Road

The Hornets won big in game one of their doubleheader against Jamestown CC, winning 9-1 but fell 7-3 in game two on Sunday afternoon. Sean Lustig struck out 12 batters to lift the Hornets to the victory in seven innings. Broome scored eight runs in the third inning.

Matthew Bowman took the loss on the mound in game two, allowing seven runs in 4 1/3 innings. Jamestown got out to a 2-0 lead in the first and tacked on three more runs in the second. An RBI single by Michael Midyette gave the Hornets life in the top of the fourth but the Cougars ended it there. Two more runs in the fifth, courtesy of an RBI double by Christopher Sweeney and an RBI single by Neil McCormack fueled a comeback attempt but the threat ended there.

Broome is at Erie CC this Tuesday for a doubleheader against the Kats with game one scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
