Baseball Struggles In Canandaigua

The baseball team continued to struggle with Finger Lakes CC in Canandaigua on Sunday, losing the front end of their doubleheader 12-0 and the back end 8-3. Dylan Barton took the loss for the Hornets in game one, he allowed six runs in 2 1/3 innings, walked four and struck out two. The Lakers didn't relinquish the lead after scoring four runs in the first inning on two singles.

Chris Sweeney surrendered just two hits, but Broome still fell to Finger Lakes in seven innings in game two. Richie Bittles ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss, he allowed eight runs in three innings, walked one and struck out one. Three runs in the top of the fifth helped the Hornets close their deficit to 8-3. A two-run error and a sacrifice fly by Zachary Tripp sparked the rally but an inning-ending fly out ended the threat there.

Up next is a road trip to Dryden for a doubleheader against Tompkins Cortland CC scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m.
