Broome Picks Up Win In Corning

The baseball team earned a road win on Tuesday in Corning, 18-13, against the Red Barons in a Region III baseball game.  Game two of the scheduled doubleheader was cancelled due to weather.  Kyle Balmer (Maine, NY/Maine-Endwell) helped lead the way for the Hornets racking up five hits, he singled in the first, doubled in the second, singled in the third, singled in the fifth, and singled in the sixth.  Broome (2-7) got on the board in the first inning when Balmer singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.  The Hornets big inning came in the third  driven by singles from Tyler McClammy (Whitney Point, NY/Whitney Point), Max Telfer (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley), and Balmer, totalling six runs in all.  Broome scattered 20 hits in the game.  Balmer, Telfer, Justin Perez (Vestal, NY/Vestal), Brady Harrington (Whitney Point, NY/Whitney Point) and Nathan Vibbard (Sidney, NY/Sidney) all managed multiple hits in the game.

Zachary Felter (Hancock, NY/Hancock Central) was the winning pitcher, he surrendered nine runs on 11 hits over four and a third innings, striking out six.  Richard Mastroianni (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott) and John Baron (Owego, NY/Owego Free Academy) entered the game out of the bullpen to help close out the game in relief.
