Baseball Goes 1-3 Against Genesee

The baseball team dropped 3 out of 4 games over the weekend to Genesee CC in a home and away series.  On Saturday the Hornets hosted the Cougars at Hornet Field for a doubleheader.  Game one went to Genesee 9-4, Zachary Felter took the loss for Broome, he lasted five innings, allowing eight hits and seven runs while striking out three and walking one.  The Hornets had 11 hits in the game.  Max TelferMatt MerrellBrady Harrington, and Nate Vibbard each managed multiple hits for the host team.

The second game of the twinbill also went to Genesee by a score of 8-4.  The Hornets watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover.  Broome scored four runs in the seventh inning, the offensive firepower was led by Justin PerezQuixano Mills, and Kyle Balmer, all driving in runs in the frame.   Ben Coscia took the loss for the Hornets, he allowed 12 hits and eight runs over five innings, striking out one.

On Sunday Broome traveled out to Batavia for a doubleheader against Genesee.  The opener saw the Hornets collect 17 hits in their 16-12 victory.  Perez tallied four hits to lead the visitors, doubling in the first, singling in the second and third, and homering in the fourth.  In the third Harrington homered, scoring two runs and Coscia homered, also scoring two runs.  John Baron was the winning pitcher, he went four innings, allowing seven runs on eight hits and striking out four.  Perez, Harrington, Merrell, Coscia, and Vibbard all had multiple hits in the game. 

In the nightcap, Genesee jumped all over Broome for an 11-1 win.  Jared Limbert took the loss, he went three innings, allowing eight runs on six hits and striking out two.  Damian Parker and Telfer each managed one hit in the game.

On Tuesday, the Hornets will travel out to Rochester for a doubleheader against Monroe CC with the first pitch scheduled for 1:00 P.M.
