Early leads by Erie CC in both games on Saturday sealed the wins for Region III's third ranked team, the Kats defeated the Hornets 18-2 in the opener and 23-0 in the second game.
In game one Broome fell behind early and couldn't come back in an 18-2 loss to Erie. The Kats scored on a single in the first inning and a single in the second inning and were never threatened after that. Jamie McWherter went 2-3 at the plate to lead Broome in hits while Jack Symons, Justin Fleming and Ethan Pastrick each contributed with one hit each. Mitchell Taylor took the loss, the pitcher went three innings, allowing five runs on three hits and striking out two.
Game two saw the Kats jump on the Hornets, totaling eleven runs in the first two innings alone. The host team struggled to keep the visiting bats in check, giving up twenty one hits, including two homers by Greg Hare. Symons and Fleming posted the only hits for Broome in the contest. Cody Lewis surrendered eleven runs on eleven hits in two innings for the loss.
Broome will host Jamestown CC at Hornet Field this Tuesday with the first pitch scheduled for 2:00 P.M.
