Men's Team Falls In Overtime

A late 3-pointer by Hudson Valley CC to send the game into OT resulted in a 83-75 loss for SUNY Broome. The Hornets went into the half down by five and battled their way back in the second half to take a 71-68 lead on clutch free throws by William Mason (Rochester, NY/James Monroe) with only 12 seconds left in regulation. Following Mason's free throws, the Vikings Brandon Palmer hit a vigorously contested 3-pointer from deep in the corner to send the game into overtime at 71 apiece.

The Vikings (13-7;4-4) went on a 6-0 run early in the overtime and outscored the Hornets (9-8;2-4) 12-4 to pull away with the 83-75 victory.  

Chris Smith (Queens, NY/Newtown) filled the stat line with 19 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals. Mason had 17 points, Dashown Nelson (Brooklyn, NY/HS of Telecommunication Arts & Technology) added 16 points, James Saunders (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott) chipped in with 13 points and Adolphus Butts (Harlem, NY/James Hubert Blake) had 10 points to round out the scoring.

The Hornets are off until this Wednesday when they travel to Finger Lakes CC (13-6;7-0) for a 7:30 MSAC game in Canandaigua.
