Hornets Make It Three Straight

The men's basketball team picked up their 3rd straight win Thursday night in a non-conference game against Davis College, 80-70, at home. SUNY Broome honored 2nd-year players Logan Vibbard (Edmeston, NY/Edmeston Central), Chris Smith (Queens, NY/Newtown), Devin Mattioli (Binghamton, NY/Binghamton), Dashown Nelson (Brooklyn, NY/HS of Telecommunication Arts & Technology), William Mason (Rochester, NY/James Monroe) and James Saunders (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott) in the last home game of the year.

The first half was a high scoring affair that saw the home team ahead by three, 45-42. Davis' Spencer Bath finished the half with 13 points including three 3-point shots. In the second half, Broome got after it on the defensive side of the ball and held the Falcons to 28 points. Bath was held to only 2 points in the half for 15 total and the second highest scorer for The Falcons had only 6 points.

The offensive effort for Broome was led by Mason with 17 points and 6 rebounds, Saunders finished with 17 points, Smith added 14 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and Nelson had 11 points. Adolphus Butts (Harlem, NY/James Hubert Blake) contributed with 7 assists.

Broome (13-10;5-6 MSAC) heads up I81 on Tuesday for their last regular season contest scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. against Jefferson CC (16-7;7-4 MSAC).
