Former Hornet Makes Binghamton Home

Jerry Buckley was a member of the SUNY Broome Hornets men's basketball team from '00-'02. As an inside/outside threat offensively, Jerry became known for his defense and high motor style of play. That style helped the '01-'02 Hornets to a 25-5 record while capturing the Mid-State Athletic Conference championship. After Broome Jerry went on to SUNY Utica/Rome (SUNYIT) where he was named captain of the Wildcats basketball team in his junior and senior year, reaching the post season in both seasons. During his junior year the Wildcats were predicted to finish second to last in the SUNYAC Conference but ended the regular season with an 11-4 record, tied for second place. Jerry finished in the top 10 of five different statistical categories in SUNYAC play that year. He was named to the SUNYAC All-Academic team in his junior and senior year, graduating in '04 with a degree in Business Administration with a minor in finance.

Buckley currently lives in Binghamton, NY, and works for Empire Merchants North as a sales representative. He also has been a player development coach at BX Player Development Group for the last twelve years. He has worked with athletes in all sports ranging from beginner to professional level athletes.  In addition, Jerry has run a 3on3 basketball tournament at his house for the past 16 years with all proceeds donated to a person in need or a scholarship fund.

"Looking back at my playing career I think most about how basketball taught me future life lessons.  While at SUNY Broome I learned how to sacrifice for the better of the team and how to become a leader.  This has helped me in both my professional career and personal life."

Jerry has been married to his wife Susan for nine years and they have three children, Chase (7), Jackson (5), Braden (1).
