Men Fall Short In Johnstown

The Men's Basketball team concluded a tough back-to-back weekend on the road with a 66-63 loss to Fulton-Montgomery CC on Sunday.

Broome fell behind early on as the Raiders would open up a 15-8 lead, but that lead was kept close with the help of early 3s by Lucas Iacobucci, and Adolphus Butts. The first half eventually ended up knotted at 31.

The second half was played close and FMCC would eventually take a 5 point lead with about 8 minutes to go. The Hornets tied the game at 58 with two minutes to play, and the next 4 points were scored by the Raider's big man Kerome Grant, inside and over multiple Hornets defenders. Baskets were traded and Fulton found themselves up 66-60 when AJ Butts hit another 3-pointer with about six seconds to go to pull within 3. The Hornets pressure on the next possession caused a loose ball that was fought for and resulted in a jump ball situation. The alternating possession went back to the Raiders with 1.6 seconds left to play. They were able to dribble the clock out and the game was over.

Iacobucci finished with 15 points on 5-9 shooting from 3 point range. He also contributed 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks. Anthony McNeil had his third double-double in as many games with 15 points and 10 boards, also adding 4 assists and 3 steals. Butts continued his all-around play with 10 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists, and Kenneth Davis added 10 points, 6 boards.

The Hornets get a rest until Sunday, Nov. 13th when they face Mohawk Valley CC in their home opener at 3pm.
