Hornets Pull Away In 2nd Half

The men's basketball team won their first game back on the court since before Thanksgiving break. They traveled across town to defeat Davis College by a score of 84-68 for their second consecutive win.

The first half was played at a high pace with both teams scoring more often then they were getting stops. Davis was led in the early going by Duke Guo who tallied 14 of his team high 21 points in the first half. After 13 minutes Broome led by only one, 30-29. Over the next 7 minutes the Hornets would begin to turn defense into offense by getting stops and converting quick baskets on the other end. Hot shooting by Lucas Iacobucci would help the Hornet's cause. He would nail three, 3-pointers in the first half, on his way to 17 of his 21 total points. Broome would finish the first half on an 18-6 run and take a 13 point lead into the break 48-35.

In the second half, the Falcons would not go away easily. They cut the lead to 5 at 59-54 halfway through the second session. But from that point on they would be outscored 25-14 as Broome would knock down their free throws to close out the game.

Anthony McNeil led all scorers with 30 points on 11-21 shooting. He also collected a double double by adding 14 rebounds, to go along with 2 steals and 3 high flying blocks. Iacobucci got his 21 on 7-14 which included 4 threes. Sean Webb contributed 16 points off the bench, he was 6-9 from the FT line with 3 assists. Adolphus Butts continued to do a bit of everything with 8 points, 5 boards, 3 assists, and Terry Solomon was huge on the defensive end and the glass with 3 steals and 11 rebounds.

The Hornets return to their home floor on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. to take on the Generals from Herkimer College.
