With an 80-78 OT victory over Cayuga CC Thursday night at home, the Hornets won their 3rd straight MSAC game. Broome (9-6;3-1) found themselves down 22-20, after a sluggish first 14 minutes. Over the final 6 minutes the Hornets would go on a 21-10 run to close the half, with Adolphus Butts contributing 12 points and 2 assists to Anthony McNeil, one led to a baseline dunk in traffic and the other led two free throws. The first half ended 41-32 in favor of the host team.

The start of the second half was once again a bit slow for Broome as Cayuga would chip away, and after a 19-9 run of their own, take a 1 point lead, 51-50. Enter Lucas Iacobucci. He scored 7 of the Hornets next 11 points to bring the Hornets within 1 at the 2:41 mark. The Spartans took a 5 point lead, 68-63 with :30 seconds left. Enter Iacobucci. He nailed his second 3-pointer to pull within 2 with 10.9 to play. After a Broome foul and a misfire on the ensuing Cayuga free throw, the Hornets pushed in transition and found Iacobucci on the wing who pulled up for 3 and Raheim Grant battled for the rebound and put-back to tie the game in regulation with .5 seconds left.

In overtime, the Hornets playmakers continued to make big plays, and McNeil and Sean Webb would combine for 6-8 from the free throw line to close out the win. McNeil led all scorers with 22 points to go along with 7 rebounds, and Butts had 20 points, 12 boards and 8 assists. Webb and Iacobucci would score 13 and 12 respectively, and Grant would add 6 boards to his 7 points, none bigger than his game-tying put-back.

The Hornets are off until next Wednesday, when they travel to Corning CC to face the Red Barons at 7:00 p.m.
