Hornets Fall On The Road

The men's basketball team dropped an MSAC game on the road at Corning CC Wednesday night, 87-76. The Red Barons (13-4;4-2) got off to a strong start on both ends of their home floor as they took an 11-0 lead within the first five minutes. However, the Hornets (9-7;3-2) would answer with a 9-2 run of their own to cut the lead to 4 by the fourteen minute mark. Ultimately, Broome would win the last 15 minutes of the half, but were still down 36-29, at the break. 

The Corning lead would grow to 10 points five minutes into the second half, and would stay between 10 and 15 for the next thirteen minutes. With just under two minutes to play, the Hornets would show some life and cut the deficit to 81-76, with about 45 seconds on the clock. The Red Barons made their free throws down the stretch to hold on for the victory.

Sean Webb scored 21 of his 23 points in the second half to lead Broome's scoring efforts, he also finished with 5 assists. Anthony McNeil put up a hard fought double-double with 17 points and 12 boards, plus 3 blocks. Rahiem Grant added 13 points on 5-5 shooting from the field and added 7 rebounds, and Adolphus Butts would also finish in double digits with 11 points.

The Hornets travel North this Saturday to face Jefferson CC at 3:00 p.m. in a MSAC match-up, and then head back on the road on Sunday for a Region III face-off in Troy against Hudson Valley CC at 3:00 p.m.
