The Hornets let one slip away Wednesday night, as they lost to Corning CC 69-66 in a MSAC contest at Baldwin Gymnasium. Broome was in command of the ball game from the time the official tossed up the opening tip as they jumped out to a 22-5 lead. The Hornets controlled the tempo in the opening half, and they turned defensive stops into scoring opportunities. Broome held a 14 point lead with one minute left in the half, until Corning scored the last 5 points to close the gap to 9 at the break.

The Red Barons would also score the first 6 points of the second half to cut the lead to 3, but Broome responded with a 13-4 run of their own to push the lead 48-36, with twelve minutes to play, and their largest lead of the half came a minute later at 53-39. From this point on the Red Barons would take control. Over the final ten minutes the Hornets were outscored 30-13, with Corning taking their first and only lead of the game on a 3-pointer by Foster Clark with just under 30 seconds to play.

Corning's Clark led all scorers with 23 points, 17 coming in the second half. Anthony McNeil would top Hornets' scoring efforts with 16 points to go along with 13 rebounds, 4 steals and 2 blocked shots. Raheim Grant put in 15 points to go with 7 rebounds. Brady Harrington also finished in double figures with 12 points, and Adolphus Butts helped out everywhere, closing with 8 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 steals.

The Hornets play their final regular season game next Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. at home against MSAC opponent Jefferson CC.
