The men's basketball team traveled to Corning CC this weekend for the Crossover Classic and suffered two losses this weekend, both to Division II non-league opponents. On Saturday, Broome would fell to Jamestown CC, 92-81, and on Sunday it was Genesee CC who came out on top, 92-59.  Slow starts plagued the Hornets in both contests as they would see double digit deficits, within the first 10 minutes of each game.

Against Jamestown, Broome found themselves in a 24-6 hole after only eight minutes, and the difference grew to 21 at 35-14 with six minutes to play.  The Hornets found some help from their bench to crawl their way back in. Dylan Virkler made an immediate impact with a basket plus a free throw, an assist to Tron Smith, Jr, and a drawn charge on defense. The pair led a 18-8 run over the last six minutes to close the half down 43-32.  The second half lead would be cut to 6, but the Hornets could not get over the hump. The Jayhawks hit their free throws down the stretch to close out the win. Smith Jr. led all scorers with 20 points on 9 of 12 shooting and also added 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. Lucas Iacobucci, Rahiem Grant and Reginald Vaughn also scored double figures with 14, 12 and 12 respectively. Virkler finished with 6 points 2 assists, and 3 drawn charges, in limited minutes.

Sunday's game against Genesee was never in question as the Cougars jumped out to a 17-0 lead and never looked back. The margin stretched to 31 by the halftime buzzer, Hornets down 52-21. The second half was much more even, as Broome was outscored only 40-38 but they were never able to close the gap.

Scoring was again led by Smith, Jr. who finished with 12 points and another 5 boards.  Grant was next with 9 points, and 5 rebounds of his own. Marc Latini made the most of his short time off the bench, scoring 5 points and adding a team high 7 rebounds and 2 assists.
