Broome couldn't hold on to their halftime lead as they fell to Cayuga CC at home, 81-69. The loss drops the Hornets to 3-7 in MSAC play, two games back from the final conference tournament spot with two conference games to play. The Spartans remain at the top of the MSAC with a record of 8-1.
Broome led at the half 40-39, and extended their lead to 58-52, with 12 minutes remaining. They would retain a 1 point lead until 8 minutes to play, when Cayuga made their push, and didn't look back.
Tron Smith, Jr. led the Hornets in scoring with 20 points. Rahiem Grant added another double-double, with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Lucas Iacobucci also contributed a double-double with 10 points and 10 boards, to go along with a team high 5 assists and Sean Kelly would put in his work on the glass with 8 rebounds.
Before the game, which was Broome's final home contest of the year, their five 2nd year players were recognized. Congratulations to Rahiem Grant, Lucas Iacobucci, Brady Harrington, Jared Conklin and Jordan Harrington.
The Hornets next travel to Corning CC on Wednesday for a scheduled 7:30 P.M. tip-off against the Red Barons.
