Slow Start Costly For Men

vs Columbia-Greene

The men's basketball team hosted Columbia-Greene CC in a Region III contest on Thursday night in the Baldwin Gymnasium and fell to the Twins, 86-72.

The Hornets went the first six minutes of the game without scoring a basket allowing the Twins to get out to a 10-0 lead.  Charles Jackson hit a 3-pointer for Broome's first points and Reginald Vaughan scored the next 8 points, connecting on back-to-back threes and a field goal of the two point variety.  With just over ten minutes to go in the first half, Broome tied the game at 12-12 but it was all Columbia-Greene after that.  The visitors went into halftime with a 38-29 lead and came out in the second half and extended the lead, thanks in part to a 34 point performance by sophomore Michael Alert.

Vaughan led the Hornets with 18 points, including four 3-pointers and 4-4 from the line, and David Johnson dropped 13 in his first game as a Hornet.

Broome travels north this weekend for a 5:00 P.M. game on Saturday against North Country CC and a 2:00 P.M. game against Clinton CC on Sunday.
