The Hornets traveled to Canandaigua on Thursday night and dropped their first MSAC contest against Finger Lakes CC, 77-73.  After falling behind 10-0 at the beginning of the game, Broome battled back to tie the score at halftime, 34-34.

The lead would go back and forth many times during the second half until the Lakers took a 9 point lead with 3 minutes to play, 70-61.  Following a timeout, the Hornets would answer with 7 straight points to cut the lead to 2, 70-68, with just over a minute left to play.  Finger Lakes would close the game from there, making their free throws down the stretch.

Quartus Steika led four Broome players in double figures with 21 points.  Patrick Buchinsky turned in a double-double effort with 18 points and 10 rebounds, including a perfect 4-4 from the charity stripe.  Malik Smith also added a double-double, with 10 points and 11 boards, and Reginald Vaughan contributed 16 points on 4-8 shooting from 3-point range.

Broome returns to the court this Saturday when they travel to Dryden for a MSAC matchup against Tompkins Cortland CC, scheduled to tip-off at 2:00 P.M.
