Visitors Late First Half Run Dooms Men

Broome player going up for a layup
vs Cayuga

The Hornets dropped their fourth straight MSAC Contest on Thursday night, falling to Cayuga CC, 91-75 in the Baldwin Gymnasium.  Broome held a lead for much of the first half until a stretch of turnovers allowed Cayuga to go on a run.  That run gave the Spartans a 13 point halftime lead, 40-27.

Despite a fighting effort for most of the second half, and better offensive production, the Hornets couldn't close the gap.  Fouls by Broome, and strong free throw shooting from Cayuga, allowed the Spartans to close out the victory.

Quartus Steika poured in a collegiate high 35 points on 13-24 shooting from the field and 6-6 from the free throw line, he also added 12 rebounds for a double-double, and had 2 blocked shots.  Malik Smith and Patrick Buchinsky were both strong contributors, with double-doubles as well, each scoring 14 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

Broome takes the road next Wednesday, traveling to Corning, to face the Red Barons in another MSAC matchup.  Tip off is scheduled for 5:00 P.M.
