Broome earned their first win of the young season Tuesday night, a 90-84 road victory against Region III opponent Columbia-Greene CC.

The high paced matchup was tightly contested most of the way as neither team held a first half lead of more than single digits.  The Hornets closed the half with a 45-44 advantage.

Thanks to intense defensive pressure, Broome was able to build a double-digit lead in the second half and pulled ahead 72-59 with ten minutes to play.  The Twins made a run of their own to tie the game at 76 with six minutes to play before the Hornets regained control and took a lead they wouldn't let go from that point on.  Timely stops and made free throws helped Broome secure the win.

Sophomore point guard Tron Smith led five Hornets in double figures with 24 points as well as adding 8 rebounds and 5 assists to his totals.  Christian Sage also eclipsed the 20 point mark with 22, was 6 for 6 from the charity stripe, and added 4 assists and 3 steals to his line.  Charles Jackson contributed 16 points with 7 boards, Travis Kraack was everywhere with 10 points, 4 boards, 4 assists, and 3 steals, and Fidel Brock anchored the defense with 5 steals, and chipped in with 10 points and 4 assists of his own.

The Hornets travel to Penn State Wilkes-Barre for a non-league matchup on Wednesday night, tip off scheduled for 8:00 P.M.
