Tough Shooting Night Leads To Home Loss

The men's basketball team struggled to shoot it from the field and from behind the arc in a 66-52 loss to Finger Lakes on Thursday.

Despite the disadvantage in the shooting categories, SUNY Broome only trailed 31-25 at halftime. While the Hornets hung around in the second half as well, the Lakers pulled away late to secure a 14-point win.

As for the shooting percentages, Finger Lakes almost doubled up the Hornets from the field, shooting 60.8% compared to 34.4% for Broome. The Lakers were 3-10 (30%) from three-point range compared to 5-22 (22.7%) for the Hornets. The Lakers also benefited from a sizable rebounding advantage, 45-34, and turned the basketball over 10 less times.

Brome was led by Amauri Truax and Antuan Darden, each contributing 13 points. Darden stuffed his statline by adding eight rebounds, five steals, and three blocks. Truax was also impactful in multiple areas of the contest, adding three rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Connor Green put up 10 points and seven rebounds while Antonio Maria had eight points and seven boards. 

The conference loss brought SUNY Broome to 7-13 overall and 5-5 in MSAC play.
