Brendan has been coaching, training and developing players of all levels since the conclusion of his NCAA playing career in 2013. A graduate of Binghamton High School in Binghamton, NY, Doherty had a standout high school career as a key piece to a program that won back to back Section 4 championships as well as back to back Southern Tier Athletic Conference titles in 2006-07 and 2007-08.

The Binghamton native was a four year collegiate student athlete while serving as a starter and team captain in each of his four years. After a freshman season at Mercyhurst NE CC and a sophomore campaign here as a Hornet at SUNY Broome CC, Doherty continued his playing career with the SUNY Cobleskill Fighting Tigers and graduated with his Bachelor of Business Administration in Technology Management. In his two seasons at Cobleskill Doherty earned consecutive team MVP Awards and earned Second Team All-Conference honors in the 2011-12 season. Since returning to the Binghamton area, Coach Doherty has worked closely with BHS Head Coach Dave Springer to develop the skills and character of our youth.

Following college graduation Brendan gained professional experience using sports to reach at risk youth in the Binghamton area while working with community organizations such as Boys & Girls Club, Jewish Community Center and Catholic Charities. Currently, Doherty is employed by Binghamton University as a Program Specialist for the 21st Century Community Learning Centers Technical Assistance Resource Center. In this role, Coach Doherty works directly with School Districts and Community Based Organizations to provide guidance and assistance related to their after school programming, and specifically to enforce the proper usage of Federal Grant Funds.

Doherty is experienced in all facets of the game including player development and recruitment. He got started with coaching and directing camps when he took the role as Director of Health, Physical Education & Recreation at the Jewish Community Center. During his three years in this role he was able to direct 14 youth camps and work with hundreds of local youth athletes. Doherty quickly made a name for himself in the basketball training and development world working with, and developing some of the top prospects in New York State. These experiences led Doherty to developing a relationship with the City Rocks New York basketball organization based in Albany, NY, which led to an affiliate partnership and the founding of City Rocks – Binghamton in the Fall of 2020. Doherty currently serves as the Director of City Rocks Binghamton which fields AAU teams for players from 5th-12th grade. Coach Doherty is going into his second year as a lead skills trainer, alongside Steve D’Agostino from Dags Basketball, at the Nike NYS Top 24 Event held at the Impact Athletic Center in Halfmoon, NY. Additionally he has experience coaching at Made Hoops and Hoop Group summer exposure events.

Brendan resides in the Binghamton area with his wife Krista and two dogs Leo and Rocco.
