Men's Hockey Improves To 5-4

Mike Sniffen (Syracuse/Marcellus) turned in a hat trick on Wednesday evening to lead the Hornets past Mohawk Valley CC 5-4 in a Region III contest at home. The Hawks took a 3-2 lead in the second period before Broome scored three unanswered goals to take the lead for good.

Connor Lofgren (Ithaca/Ithaca) scored twice and Drew Peterson (Horseheads/Horseheads), Brian Long (Brooklyn/Xaverian) and Kevin Cullen (Baldwinsville/Baldwinsville) each had a goal. Adam Matruski (Apalachin/Vestal) added four assists and Long chipped in with three more. Goaltender Scott Boyd (Arrowwood, Canada/County Central) had 34 stops for Broome.

The Hornets improve to 5-4 with the win and will host another Region III opponent in Hudson Valley CC this Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
