Hockey Picks Up Road Win

SUNY Broome's hockey team cruised by the Elmira College JV team 10-2 Wednesday night in Elmira, NY. Freshman Goaltender Dustin Stevens (Kasson, MN) earned his first college Victory in a start against Elmira College's JV Team on Wednesday night.  Stevens stopped 31 0f the 33 shots he faced.  Eight different Hornets scored in the 10-2 Victory.  Cory Della Stua (Pittsford, NY) and Mikey Ferranti (Port Crane, NY) both scored two goals, Ferranti netting the game winner.  David Zalayet (Garden City Park, NY), Wayne Buerkle (Cortland, NY), Mat Culcasi (Chesapeake, V A), Nick Frati (Churchville, NY), Chris Alston (Canton, NY), and Matt Sundgren (Endicott, NY) all scored a goal as well.  Sophmore defensemen Trevor Barney (Vestal, NY) had four assists, and freshman Karel Simek (Mlada Boleslab, Czech Republic) had three assists. 

The Hornets play Monroe Community College in Rochester, NY next Thursday
