Dakota College at Bottineau In Finals

The Dakota College at Bottineau defeated Hudson Valley CC 6-1 Saturday evening to advance to the 2016 NJCAA  Men's Ice Hockey Championship game against Erie CC tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. The Jacks scored in the first period and Vikings scored in the second before Bottineau exploded for five goals in the third.

The first period saw Frank Flight get the Jacks on the board first at the 9:36 mark with assists going to Nial Mills and Lucas Walsh. Hudson Valley responded at 13:42 in the second on a goal by Sean Spohr assisted by Brandon Doherty.

The third period belonged to Dakota College at Bottineau. Phoenix McElroy-Scott wasted no time giving the #2 seed a 2-1 advantage, scoring ten seconds into the period. Next up it was Noah Grant at the 7:58 mark with assists going to Matt Miniaci and Viktor Brask. Three minutes later Charles Joly found the back of the net off another assist by Walsh. At the 14:28 mark Wesley Callens scored courtesy of assists from David Bures and Austin Bissonnette and the final goal of the game came from Bryce Enns with assists going to Michael Wirth and McElroy-Scott. In all, thirteen Jacks figured in the scoring for the game.

Goalie Erik Eidissen stopped 19 shots for Dakota while his counterpart Nate Muller stop 45 shots for #3 Hudson Valley.

Defending national champions, Erie CC, will take on Dakota College at Bottineau at the SUNY Broome Ice Center in Binghamton, NY in the 2016 NJCAA Men's Ice Hockey Championship game starting at 2:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
