This Week In Broome Hockey

The Hornets finally broke their pointless streak with a huge breakout with 6 goals to tie the Elmira JV Soaring Eagles, and now they seek their first victory of the year as they close out 2016 with four games in the next 9 days, including a 2 game home stand.

The Hornets open up tonight against the Mohawk Valley Hawks who are coming in on a 4 game losing streak themselves, but have a 2-5 record overall. The Hornets will have to bring their A game to compete with a team who, despite the losses, kept it very close with division leading Erie. Game time is 7:00 p.m. at the SUNY Broome Ice Center.

On Saturday, the Hornets host the division leading Erie Kats on Alumni day here at SUNY Broome at 3:00 p.m. Alumni and current students are invited to root on the Hornets as they look to do the improbable and redeem themselves from a 14-1 beating back at Harborcenter in Buffalo. Puck drop will be at 3;00 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

Not taking any time off, the Hornets get right back at it on Sunday as they travel down to Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA.   Muhlenberg is 2-6 so far this season and has a short bench the same as our Hornets do.  Puck drop will be at 4:30 p.m. in Allentown.

A week from Friday the Hornets will close out 2016 in Utica as they close out the home and home with Mohawk Valley. One team will be looking for redemption and one will be looking to shut out the other in 2016. That game will begin at 5:30 p.m.

That will close out 2016 for your SUNY Broome Hornets who will get a nice long break until after the holidays. Be sure to check back with us here for updates coming in January for the Hornets second half of the season and more information on the 2017 NJCAA National Championship Tournament.

The two home games to close out 2016 will be broadcast live on mixlr.com with the pregame show 15 minutes before puck drop.  The final 2 will not be broadcast due to lack of internet availability so we apologize for that.  The SUNY Broome Hornets hockey team wishes you and yours a VERY Happy Holiday and a wonderful New Year! GO HORNETS!
