Lacrosse Picks Up First Win

The men's lacrosse team picked up their first win on Monday afternoon in Utica, 15-3, against Mohawk Valley CC.  The Hornets (1-5) dominated the Hawks (0-4) in the first half, taking a 7-0 lead after the first two frames.  Devin Weldon (Binghamton, NY/Binghamton) put the visitors on the board first with the assist going to Justin Goodspeed (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Forks).  

Mohawk's effort in the second half was able break up the shutout, scoring one goal in the 3rd and two goals in the fourth.  Broome kept the pressure up and netted eight more goals to give the team their first victory of the season.  Kenaniah Saginario (Endicott, NY/Endicott) and Nicholas Pert (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley) each contributed five goals and four assists to lead the Hornets offense.  Tanner Gell (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) scored his first goal of the season and finished the day with a hat trick.  Goaltender Ryan Madden (Binghamton, NY/Binghamton) anchored the defensive effort with 19 saves on the day.
 
Broome will host Genesse CC (6-2) this Wednesday at Alumni Field on campus, with the face off scheduled at 4:00 P.M.
