Men's Lacrosse Hangs On For Home Victory

The men's lacrosse team held on for a 9-7 win at Alumni Field against Jefferson CC in the team's home finale on Wednesday afternoon.  The Hornets (2-7) jumped on the Cannoneers (2-9) winning the first quarter 3-0 with Devin Weldon (Binghamton, NY/Binghamton) leading the offense with 2 goals and 1 assist.  The visitors responded by outscoring Broome 4-1 in the second quarter with Nicholas Pert (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley) netting the lone goal on a Kenaniah Saginario (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott) assist to tie it up at 4-4 going into the half.  The third quarter would also draw even with Broome's Justin Goodspeed (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Forks) scoring on a Saginario feed and Saginario netting Broome's only other third quarter goal on a Weldon assist.  The Hornets outlasted their opponent outscoring Jefferson 3-1 in the final quarter.  

Broome's defensive effort was led by game-ball recipient,  goaltender Ryan Madden (Binghamton, NY/Binghamton) and Elexander Caro (Vestal, NY/Vestal). Madden finished the day with 14 saves while Caro anchored the defense and picked up eight ground balls.

Broome also honored it's second year players during their final home game of the 2018 season.  Josh Weaver (Elmira, NY/Elmira) and Pert received their recognition at halftime with their families and coaches. 
 
Broome improves to 2-7 and finishes it's regular season on the road this Saturday at Finger Lakes CC in Canandaigua, face off set for 1:00 P.M.
