Men's Soccer Team Drops Home Opener
In the home opener for the men's soccer team, the Hornets lost 3-1 in a close battle with Dutchess CC Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field. Broome took the lead early in the first half on a through ball from Joshua Wlostowski (Vestal, NY/Vestal) to Alex Brownell (Franklin, NY/Franklin) who had a classy finish into the bottom right corner of the Falcons net. Score was 1-0 Broome at the halfway mark of the match. Second half opened with quick score by the Falcons when a cross from the right found its way into the Hornets net. Shortly thereafter, the Falcons struck again when  a cross from the right side of the box found Falcon Vasiliy Shevelchinsky. The Falcon's third goal came from another cross outside the box finding Stefan Mckain for a finish and the 3-1 lead. A tough fought game between both sides, with the Falcons capitalizing on the opportunities at hand.  The Hornets and Falcons each tallied 7 shots on goal while Broome had the edge on corners 4-2. Tyler Elliott (Vestal, NY/Vestal) had 4 stops in net and Tyler Hinds (Vestal, NY/Vestal) had 1 stop. Falcon goalkeeper Beau Forester had 5 saves for the visitors. 

The Hornets go on the road to take on the Corning CC Red Barons this Wednesday, September 2nd at 4:00 pm.
