The men's soccer team picked up win number two, a 6-0 shutout, against Niagara County CC this afternoon at Alumni Field. The Hornets took a early 1-0 lead in the 5th minute when Nathan Mansfield (Hopewell Junction, NY/John Jay-East Fishkill) received a through ball on the right from Alex Brownell (Franklin, NY/Franklin), took the Thunderwolves keeper one on one and slotted the ball into the left of the net. Halfway through the first, the Hornets struck again in the 26th minute when Joshua Wlostowski (Vestal, NY/Vestal) took a pass from Guido McKenzie (Brooklyn, NY/Clara Barton) into the box, splitting two defenders and slotting the ball into the back of the net over a charging Timberwolves goalkeeper. The Hornets led 2-0 at the halftime whistle. Not long into the second half of the match Ryan Bunker (Kirkwood, NY/Susquehanna Valley) gave the Hornets a 3-0 lead in the 58th minute when Wlostowski flicked a pass in the air towards him for a header into the bottom corner of the net. Broome added a 4th goal in the 74th minute when McKenzie received a long through ball from Anthony Bowersox (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Forks) and beat the keeper with a curled ball into the right corner of the net. Bunker added a 5th goal for the Hornets in the 77th when he powered a header into the net off a corner from Andres Rodriguez-Fonseca (Endwell, NY/Maine-Endwell). The last goal on the day for the Hornets came in the 82nd minute when Alex Walsh (Binghamton, NY/Seton Catholic) picked up a bobbled clearance from the Thunderwolves, turned and fired the ball into the roof of the net giving the Hornets a 6-0 lead.
