In their sixth game of the season mens soccer team battled to a 2-1 victory in a rainy contest against North Country CC for their fourth win of the campaign. The Hornets opened up the scoring early in the first at the 4 minute mark when Christian Rosics (Johnson City, NY/Johnson City) hit a long direct ball into the box which found Nathan Mansfield (Hopewell Junction, NY/John Jay-East Fishkill) who headed the ball into the top of the net for the 1-0 Hornet lead. The Hornets followed up with a second goal just before the half in the 43rd minute when Kyle Dann's (Marathon, NY/Marathon Central) corner kick landed in the middle of the box and was buried past the Saints goalkeeper by Ryan Bunker (Kirkwood, NY/Susquehanna Valley) to give the Hornets a 2-0 lead they would hold going into the half. The second half would see one goal in the 86th minute, when the Saints would bring the contest a bit closer as Jack Thorton picked up a failed Hornets clearance and rifled the ball into the Hornets goal. Tyler Elliott (Vestal, NY/Vestal) had 6 stops in goal for the Hornets while his counterpart for the Saints, Joshua Stamus, also had 6 saves.
