Men's Soccer Team Suffers First Loss Of Season

Two of the top ten teams in the country, SUNY Broome @ #10 and Herkimer College @ #4, met Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field on campus. The Hornets (9-1) came out on the short end of the match, falling to the Generals (9-0) 2-0 in the Region III matchup. The game started at a high pace and Herkimer scored off a good through ball to open the scoring seven minutes into the game. SUNY Broome kept up the pressure and created lots of chances but were unable to get one before the half.

The second half started with the same pace as the first. Both teams battled hard but the Generals managed to get their second goal of the game in the 32nd minute. The Hornets continued to push hard to get on the board and almost scored a couple at the end, but Herkimer hung on for the win. Tyler Elliott stopped 11 of Herkimer's shots in his first loss of the season.

Broome will host Onondaga CC this Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. at Alumni Field on campus in a MSAC match.
