Men's Soccer Advances To District Finals

The men's soccer team defeated Onondaga CC 3-2 in OT this afternoon to advanced to the District Finals against Genesee CC this Sunday, hosted by Tompkins Cortland CC. Harris Brkovic opened up the scoring early for Broome off a neatly curled free kick around the wall. Luke Day doubled the Hornets lead when he finished a rebound off a Michael Rodriguez-Lopez shot that hit the crossbar. The Lazers got one back before halftime on a penalty kick.

Onondaga opened up the scoring early in the 2nd half to knot the game up at 2 all.  Both teams continued to create chances but neither were able to find the game winner in regulation. With 7 minutes to go in the first overtime, Lisberto Calvo played a great through-ball to Brkovic who dribbled past his defender before crossing it to Christian Rosics for the game winner.

Broome improves to 16-2-1 on the season while Onondaga's season ended at 9-6-1. SUNY Broome will play Genesee CC at 4:00 p.m. in Dryden at TC3 for the rights to continue their season at the NJCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship Thursday, November 10th - Sunday, November 13th hosted by Herkimer College.
