The men's soccer team earned their first win of the season Wednesday in Canandaigua, NY against Finger Lakes CC by a score of 4-1.  After a hard fought scoreless first half, the Lakers scored first in the 48th minute, courtesy of an unassisted goal by the Lakers' Derek McArthur. Six minutes later the Hornets equalized the game on a goal from freshman forward Ismar Turkovic (Binghamton, NY/Binghamton), his first of two on the day, and never looked back. In all, three different Hornets netted the ball and three different Hornets notched assists, 2 of them coming from sophomore Damian Rutan (Cincinnatus, NY/Cincinnatus).  Sophomores Pedro Marcano (Barinas, Venezuela/Nuestra Senora del Pilar) and Noah Kozecke (Endwell, NY/Maine-Endwell) rounded out the scoring with a goal apiece.

Both Luke Duncan (Jersey, GB/Highlands) and Christian Klecha (Greene, NY/Greene) saw time in goal with Duncan (4 saves) earning the win. Finger Lakes keeper, Brayden Kane, stopped 18 shots for the host team. Broome held the advantage in shots on goal, 22-9.

The Hornets will travel to Herkimer College this weekend for the Coliseum Kickoff Classic and play Bergen CC on Saturday, and Rowan College at Glouster County on Sunday with games beginning at 2:30 P.M. both days.
