Chris Riley begins his second season as the 2016 SUNY Broome Men’s Soccer Coach. Coach Riley comes to the Hornets with a most extensive soccer background in the way of both coaching and playing experience. In 2010, upon a return to his hometown of Endicott, Riley ventured into local coaching when offered the Seton Catholic Central’s Junior Varsity Boys Soccer Team position, while simultaneously founding Riley Development Academy (RDA).  Six years strong, today the RDA training academy program attracts in excess of 400 youth players from across the Greater Binghamton area. Today, Riley serves as Head Coach and Trainer of the Greater Binghamton Futbol Club Select U15 Girls Team, a position he has held for the last five years. Under Riley’s guidance, the GBUFC Select U15 Girls continue to excel; qualifying for the US Youth Soccer National League for the past two consecutive years, as Champions of the Region 1 Premier League in both 2015 and 2014, as Disney Showcase Finalists of 2015, as NYSWYSA State Cup Champions in 2014 and 2013, and as NYSWYSA Thruway League Champions in 2013 and 2012, among several other accolades.  Prior to joining SUNY Broome, Riley also led the Maine Endwell Boys Varsity Team from 2011-2014. During Riley’s 4-year stint, the Spartans won two Section IV Championships in both 2012 and 2011, and finished #2 in NYS as the 2011 State Finalists.

A collegiate standout, Coach Riley played with the Herkimer County Community College Soccer Team, leading his team to two National Final Four Championships, was selected to the NJCAA All Region Team, the All East Coast Team and was named the Regional Tournament MVP. Riley moved on to the Wright State University Soccer Team, where he was named to the All-Tournament Team and honored with the Men’s Soccer Senior Award. With the professional arena calling shortly thereafter, Coach Riley embraced the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play in both the USL 1 & 2 for the Charleston Battery, Wilmington Hammerheads, Western Mass Pioneers, and the Pittsburgh Riverhounds, spanning 2005-2009. And, from 2012-2015, Riley’s last playing stint would be as the Co-Founder and Captain of the Greater Binghamton Futbol Club (GBFC) NPSL Men’s Soccer Team.

Riley holds an Associate’s Degree from Herkimer County Community College and continued his studies at Wright State. Determined to complete his education following professional play, when SUNY Cortland offered Riley the position as First Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach, he completed his studies in Physical Education, achieving a Bachelor’s Degree in 2009 from Cortland.

Coach Riley was honored as 2015 Mid-State Athletic Conference Coach of the Year following his first year with the SUNY Broome Hornets, and holds a USSF E Coaching License.

Riley and his wife, Stephanie, live in Endwell, NY.
