Akulis 7th; 4X400 Relay Team 8th At Nationals
David Akulis placed 7th overall and the men's 4x400 meter relay team placed 8th overall last weekend at the NJCAA Division III National Championships.
David Akulis placed 7th overall and the men's 4x400 meter relay team placed 8th overall last weekend at the NJCAA Division III National Championships.
Akulis was 7th overall in the men's high jump, reaching a height of 1.83 meters. His 7th-place finish earned him NJCAA All-American honors.
The men's 4x400 meter relay team of Charles Larrabee, Avery Palumbo, Ya'Siin Bacchas, and Nevan Doubleday placed 8th overall in the event. The team ran a time of 3:41.58 in the first round, which set a school record. The group followed that up with a time of 3:43.45 in the finals to secure the 8th place finish. All members of the team received All-American medals for their collective performance.
Zavien Rouhana continued the trend of top-10 finishes for the men on the weekend. Rouhana placed 10th overall in the men's 10K with a time of 37:15.10; just missing another All-American selection.
The men's 4x100 meter relay team of Larrabee, Lucas McPeak, Yuri Brich, and Braeden Goerlich took 12th overall in the event with a time of 44.80 seconds; setting a new school record.
Larrabee was 25th overall in the men's 100 meter dash. McPeak was 28th overall in the 200 meter dash. Palumbo secured a top-15 finish, coming in 15th overall, in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.62.
Overall, the men's track & field team had the 18th-highest point total at the National Championships meet.
