Softball Splits On Road

The softball team split with Columbia-Greene CC Tuesday afternoon losing game one 4-3 and winning game two 8-0.

In game one Columbia-Greene led  3-0 after 3 innings before the Hornets fought back with 2 runs in the top of the 4th. Karisa Sheriff led off the inning with a single followed by a Shelby Pettersen single up the middle to drive her in. Rheagan Fischette had a clutch hit to left center to bring Pettersen in
from second. In the top of the 7th after back to back singles by Sierra Butler and Sheriff, Mindy Fisher drove the next pitch to right to score Butler to tie it at 3 all.  In the bottom of the 7th a lead-off walk proved to be costly. Columbia-Greene sacrificed the runner to second and back to back singles scored the winning run to end the game.

In game two the Hornets bounced back behind the pitching of Justina Ellis scattering 8 hits in 5 innings to hold the host team scoreless.  The Hornets spread the wealth in the game with many players contributing offensively led by Shelby Pettersen with a two-run double in the 2nd to highlight a 6 run 2nd inning. Ellis also helped her own cause by going 2-3 with 2 RBI's.
