Softball Falls In Canandaigua

The women's softball team fell in Canandaigua Sunday afternoon to Finger Lakes CC, 7-0 in game one and 14-6 in game two. In the bottom of the fourth with two outs, the Lakers connected on 7 singles to put 6 runs on the board. The Hornets were held to just five hits by Finger Lakes' Madison Ware, with the biggest threat coming in the sixth inning with the bases loaded and failed to get a run across the plate.

Cassidy Phillips led game two off with a double, her first of three,  then scored with a single up the middle by Ashley Lomonaco to take the lead after the first inning. Like game one, the Lakers connected on four singles and a double in the top of the second to take a 4-1 lead. Finger Lakes added two more runs in the third before Broome chipped away with singles by Phillips, Tia Birtch, Lomonaco and Jill Burns. A sacrifice by Desiree Parry made the score 6-4. Parry also hit a solo shot to straight-away center in the fifth to close the gap to 8-5. Once again the host team closed out the game in the seventh inning and scored five runs with two outs to win the game 14-6.

Broome will host Cayuga CC at BAGSAI this Tuesday with game one starting at 3:30.
