Softball Team Drops Two In Rochester

The softball team dropped both games in their doubleheader against Monroe CC on Saturday, losing game one 10-4 and game two 8-3. In game one, Monroe took a 2–0 in the third on three consecutive doubles. Broome responded with two runs in the fourth on a lead off double from Cassidy Phillips and was driven home by Ashley Lomonaco who hit a single to right center. Desiree Parry hit a ground ball to the second baseman to score Lomonaco.  Monroe took the lead back in the bottom of the fourth by scoring two more runs. Philips and Tia Birtch both singled in the top of the fifth before Lomonaco doubled both home to tie the game at 4-4. But that's all the offense the Hornets got the rest of the game and Monroe went on to when 10–4.

Monroe came out right where they left off in game one, putting up five runs in the top of the first. Broome answered back with singles by Phillips and Birtch before Lomonaco hit her first pitch over the left field fence for a three-run shot to pull the Hornets within two. After that it was all Tribunes, holding their guests scoreless the rest of the way while adding thirteen more runs for the 18-3 final score.

Lomonaco was 3–6 with 5 RBI's, including a three-run homerun and Phillips was 4–6 with two doubles to pace the Hornets for the day. Broome returns home this Tuesday for a doubleheader against Columbia-Greene CC beginning at 3:30 p.m. at the BAGSAI Softball Complex.
