Broome traveled to Auburn on Tuesday for a doubleheader against Cayuga CC and came up short in both games, losing 10-9 and 6-4.

Game one saw the Hornets go scoreless through the first five innings before putting a run up on the board, and bring the score to 8-1 at the end of six in favor of the Spartans. In the top of the seventh Broome rallied for 8 runs on 6 hits to take a 9-8 lead into the bottom of the seventh. The Hornets got the first two outs easily in the bottom of the frame before the host team was able to put runners in scoring position and drive them home for the walk-off win. Broome tallied thirteen hits in the contest, led by Alyssa Hovey (Bainbridge, NY/Bainbridge-Guilford) with three hits and an RBI in five plate appearances. Cassidy Phillips (Afton, NY/Afton), Miranda Groover (Susquehanna, PA/Susquehanna) and Jolene Krom (Sidney, NY/Sidney) each had 2 hits and 2 RBIs. Phillips tagged Spartan pitcher Stephanie Mitchell for her second homerun of the year and Krom hit her first. Riley Smith (Bainbridge, NY/Bainbridge-Guilford) struck out eight batters in the game.

SUNY Broome fell behind early in second game of the twinbill, 3-0, after two innings of play before closing the gap, 3-2 at the end of three. The Spartans responded with 3 more runs in the top of the fourth en route to the 6-4 win, their ninth of the year. Paige Finch (Kirkwood, NY/Susquehanna Valley) led all hitters with 3 hits in 4 at bats. Monica Luke (Binghamton, NY/Binghamton) went 2-3, Ailnairis Belefanti (Curacao/Juan Pablo Duarte) contributed with 1 hit and 2 RBIs, and Groover also had a hit and 2 RBIs. Smith struck out five batters and walked two in the second game. 

Broome returns home on Thursday for a doubleheader against Corning CC, game time for the first game is 3:00 P.M.
