Softball Season Ends On A High Note

The softball team traveled to Watertown on Thursday for a doubleheader against Jefferson CC and split, dropping game one 14-6, and winning game two 10-9, courtesy of a walk-off hit by Erin Page. Prior to leaving, Cassidy Phillips was recognized for her efforts the past two years. Phillips is the only sophomore on the roster of thirteen players.

Phillips led the Hornets with three hits, including a triple,  in the opener and Jolene Krom hit a homerun but it wasn't enough to overcome the early Cannoneers lead, and lost 14-6. Game two ended with a walk-off single by Erin Page to score two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning and the 10-9 victory. Doubles by Page, Krom, Miranda Groover and Katelyn Page early on kept the Hornets within striking distance, as did Groover's four stolen bases.
