SUNY Broome swept SUNY Adirondack on Thursday in two well played Region III softball games, winning game one in 9 innings, 4-3, and game two in 7 innings, 5-2.  The opener saw both teams go scoreless through the first 3 innings. The Timberwolves got on the board in the top of the fourth for the 1-0 lead over the Hornets, a lead that would last only to the bottom of the fourth, when the host team tied it at 1-1.  Both teams could not plate a run over the next three innings sending the game into extra innings tied at 1-1.  Again, the Timberwolves struck the first blow, scoring two runs in the top of the eighth inning only to be answered by the Hornets, scoring two of their own to tie it up at 3-3 heading into the ninth.  Broome held Adirondack scoreless in the top of the frame behind the pitching of Kylee Warner to set the stage for Taylor Voorhis crossing the plate with the winning run and the 4-3 victory.  Mackensie Gravelin led Broome with two hits followed by Mikayla Garbarino, Paige Finch, Warner, Alea Tiffany, Ashley Sisson and Voorhis wth one hit each.  Warner earned the win on the mound pitching all 9 innings, striking out 9, and walking none.  Elizabeth Richards led Adirondack with three hits and Bailey Hasemann picked up the loss, going all 8 innings, striking out 3 and walking none.

Game two went to the Hornets (10-4) behind another solid game from Warner on the mound, allowing just two runs, striking out 4, and walking none in 7 innings.  Broome scored 3 runs in the top of the third, and 2 more in the top of the sixth before Adirondack (8-2) would put up 2 runs of their own but could draw no closer than the 5-2 outcome.  Both Garbarino and Finch had multiple hits in the game, and Warner, Tiffany, Gravelin and Voorhis chipped in with one hit each.  Hasemann, Kaylee Coon, and Danielle Flint had two hits each for the Timberwolves.

Broome travels to Canandaigua this Saturday for a MSAC doubleheader against Finger Lakes CC, scheduled to start at 1:00 P.M.
