Softball Swept By NJCAA's #2

@ Herkimer College

The softball team traveled to Herkimer College on Tuesday afternoon and dropped both games to the #2 ranked Generals by scores of 10-0 and 12-1.  Game one saw the Hornets threaten in the top of the first, loading the bases on two walks and error, but any chance of plating a run was ended with a double play ball.  That was as close as Broome would come to scoring in the opener against the nation's #2 ranked team.  Laurel Pernesky-Currier had the only hit off Herkimer's Kali Puppolo in game one.

The Generals scored a run in the top of the first to start game two, only to be tied up in the bottom of the inning after McKenna Wheaton drove in Mikayla Garbarino.  Herkimer followed up the first inning with a 5-run second, and a 6-1 lead they never lost.  Broome picked up 5 hits in the game, one each from Garbarino, Wheaton, Keyairra Woolfolk, Abby Mancini and Madison Lapinski.  Woolfolk picked up 4 strikeouts in the losing effort.

Broome will face Mohawk Valley CC this Thursday with game one of the doubleheader scheduled for 1:00 P.M. at the BAGSAI Sports Complex.
