Softball Picks Up 5th Win

Broome swept Tompkins Cortland CC at home on Wednesday afternoon in a Region III matchup by scores of 8-0 and 15-1.  Keyairra Woolfolk threw a one-hitter in game one of the doubleheader against the Panthers while the Hornets tallied 12 hits in the contest.  Broome scored two in the first, one in the second and five in the third to earn their fourth win of the year.  Woolfolk, Courtney George, Abby Mancini and Madison Lapinski had two hits apiece, Woolfolk and George each had double.  Alea Tiffany, Taylor Voorhis, Laurel Pernesky-Currier and McKenna Wheaton chipped in with one hit each, Pernesky-Currier's lone hit was of the 3-bag variety.

The nightcap saw the Hornets score in all but the second inning of the five inning game, four in the first, five each in the third and fourth and one in the fifth.  All nine Hornet batters hit safely in the game led by Woolfolk and Lapinski wth three hits each.  George, Mancini, Tiffany, Pernesky-Currier and Wheaton all had two-hit games, and Voorhis and Saralyn Lee each had a hit.  Woolfolk and Pernesy-Currier each had a triple.  In all, Broome tallied 18 hits to earn their 5th win of the season, including 5 out of the last 6 to improve to 5-3 in Region III.

The Hornets are on the road this weekend for two doubleheaders starting with SUNY Adirondack on Saturday, and Genesee CC on Sunday, scheduled for a 1:00 P.M. start both days.
