Defensive Effort Not Enough For Road Win

The women's basketball team fell to Herkimer College 39-36 on Saturday, despite a solid defensive effort by the Hornets. Maddie Blackman (Conklin, NY/Susquehanna Valley) led Broome with 13 points and 9 rebounds but more importantly held Khristaijah Jackson, the Region's leading scorer, to 8 points.

The Hornets took a 21-20 lead into the locker room at halftime but were outscored by the Generals 19-15 in the second half including a 4-point 3rd quarter for the visitors. Broome was ice cold from the 3-point line shooting just 12.5% as well as finishing at 27.5% from the field.

Up next for SUNY Broome (1-6) is a trip to Queensbury, NY for a 1:00 P.M. Region III game against SUNY Adirondack (6-6).
