2nd Quarter Dooms Women's Team

The women's basketball team lost to Jefferson CC 54-49 in the Baldwin Gym on Saturday afternoon in a MSAC game. The Hornets were down 16-15 after the 1st quarter but were outscored 15-7 in the 2nd quarter, enough of a cushion to give the Cannoneers (12-6;4-2) the road win. Riley Luckie led the visitors with 16 points, 12 of them coming in the first half.

Lucille Dellos (Johnson City, NY/Johnson City) led all scorers with 17 points, Chandler Prouty (Oneonta, NY/Milford) notched another double-double with 10 points and 12 boards and Brooke Gipe (Poland, NY/Poland) went 4-4 from the floor for 8 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Ashley Lomonaco (Binghamton, NY/Binghamton) came off the bench for 7 points and 5 rebounds in her first game back since November.

Broome is back on the hardwood Sunday at 1:00 p.m. for a Region III contest against Hudson Valley CC.

Between games the college honored the late alumnus, Bernard "Bones" Bensen, in the Baldwin Gym. In a March game in 1955 against Alfred Tech, Bones scored 63 points, a record that still stands today.
