Farahane Leads Balanced Attack In Impressive OT Victory

The Hornets came from behind to win a thrilling OT victory over Columbia-Greene CC, 78-72 before an enthusiastic home crowd on Tuesday evening in the Baldwin Gym. The Twins went into halftime up 31-23 led by All'aha Albright with 13 points. Broome played Columbia-Greene even in the third quarter with each team putting 21 points up on the board. The Twins gradually increased their lead to 15 points with three minutes left in the game and, then it began. The Hornets cut it to 12 with a little over two minutes remaining off a 3-pointer from Janasia Perkins. The ensuing two minutes saw a flurry of critical defensive stops by the home team and timely baskets by Graci Standish-Warpus, Courtney Petticoffer and Ana Farahane to send the game into OT tied at 66-66. Standish-Warpus led the fourth quarter surge with 9 points, none bigger than the 3-pointer that brought Broome within four points, 62-64. Standish-Warpus and Farahane combined for 15 of the Hornets' 22 points in the fourth quarter.

Broome carried their momentum into the OT period and outscored Columbia-Greene 12-6 for the win. Sam Acuna and Perkins each hit big 3-pointers to open up the lead and Farahane ended the game going a perfect 6-6 from the charity stripe.  

Farahane had an impressive collegiate high 30 points and she wasn't done there. Adding to the game high 30 were 14 boards, 5 assists, 3 blocks and 2 steals. Eleven of her points came from the free throw line on 11-12 shooting. Standish-Warpus and Perkins contributed 16 points apiece and combined for seven of Broome's twelve 3-point baskets. Standish-Warpus also added 5 assists and 4 rebounds in the winning effort. Acuna had 8 points, 3 boards, 3 assists and Petticoffer had 6 points, 6 boards, 3 assists and 2 blocks. Petticoffer hit a mid-range jumper late in the fourth to tie the score and force overtime.

Broome will travel this weekend to North Country CC for a 1:00 p.m. game Saturday in Saranac Lake and Clinton CC  and a 12:00 p.m. game Sunday in Plattsburgh.
